2nd grade- These artists will create Name Game Projects and Endangered Animal Portraits. They will also improve on the skill of drawing their 2nd grade Self Portrait . By the end of the year, they will also create Dinosaur Landscapes, Peaceable Kingdoms 2D individually and 3D collaboratively, sculpt an animal out of clay, carve block prints, and collage a creature out of paper. They will end the year with a "growth mind set" toward animal drawing. This means they know that they can draw any animal if they start with shapes and look at a picture. With practice, they will get better and better.

Open house is a time to show their Dinosaur landscapes and Peaceable kingdoms (2d and 3D). The 3D kingdoms include their clay animals they lovingly created.
3rd grade-
In third grade, they will create Batik Name Games (pealing the masking fluid is their favorite part), gain the skill of drawing their own house, and render their Self Portrait (for some, their 4th one!). The third graders will also create a clay pot, (each one as individual as they are), a Starry Night painting, a paper collage of a rainforest and a genre scene with scratch art fireworks!

4th grade- In 4th grade they will create a Mola, a self portrait and an oil pastel and paint Name Game Project. As the year goes on they will sculpt in clay, paint, and block print Endangered Animal portraits. After discussing WHY animals are endangered, they will have to think deeply to arrive at a unique answer as to WHAT they can do to help God's animal kingdom. They will learn about the artists Kuna Indians, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Frank Stella. They will also explore many of the careers in the Visual Arts. More people are employed in the Visual Arts than the Performing Arts and Sports Industries combined.
4th graders created Mola-style design projects
The 4th graders have a learned a new design skill- Mola Style! This style was created by the Kuna Indians of the San Blas Islands. Each 4th grader created their own, unique Mola.
